You will rest when you finish. You will take a break when you deserve it. You will slow down when things calm down.

Things do not calm down. You do not finish. You never quite feel like you have earned the rest.

Rest is not a reward for productivity. It is a biological requirement for function. The brain consolidates learning during rest. The nervous system regulates during rest. The body repairs during rest. Without adequate rest, every other system degrades.

The culture that treats rest as laziness or luxury is not a productive culture. It is a depleted culture that has normalized depletion.

You do not need to earn rest. You need rest to function. This is not a soft suggestion. It is physiology.

The question is not when you will finally deserve a break. It is what you have been telling yourself about why you cannot take one.
